Fossil fuels such as gas and oil are the main source of energy and removed by mining. Surface mining is where lots of vegetation, soil and rock is stripped away so that the miners can reach the materials.Sub-surface mining is when they dig deep shafts below the ground surface.

-A technique called fracking has been developed to extract shale gas. The way its done is liquid is pumped inside the rock at high pressure which causes it to crack which releases the gas.

Impacts

-Waste from mines can cause pollution. Mercury and lead are included which are really dangerous for plant,animal and humans.

-habitats are destroyed…
