Totalitarianism is a political system in which all aspects of life are brought under government control

  • It demands enthusiasm and commitment from its citizens
  • A traditional dictatorship expects a lack of opposition from its citizens, whereas a totalitarian dictatorship  demands enthusiasm and commitment as well

During the war, many aspects of Stalin's dictatorship had been relaxed, however...
