Hemispheric Lateralisation

- the sensory and motor areas of the brain are organised in a symmetrical pattern and their functions are split equally between the two hemispheres

- however some brain function are found only in one hemisphere- this is hemispheric lateralisation 

- LEFT: language processing 

-RIGHT: recognising emotion - Heller & Levy found that pps shown a split photo would recognise emotion shown on left side of the picture, spatial relationships
