  • 2/3 earthquakes each year ( 5.5.+ on the richter scale)

        • Caused by cyclones (long lasting periods of high are pressure with dry air and no rain)
        • Caused by La Nina ( periods when surface water in the Eastern Pacific Ocean is cooler, less eveapouration = less precipitation)
        • Increased wind ( blowing westwards towards desert areas) = creates wildfires due to lack of mosture and dry vegitation being flamiabe (e.g. Southern California, October 2007 - 22 people killed and 1300 homes were
