MCROBBIE: Girls aspirations changing since the 1970s, magazines now portray women as career-driven and independant.
EQUAL PAY ACT 1970
SEX DISCRIMINATION ACT 1975
SHARPE: Interview girls, 1970s- main goal is to get married and have kids. 1990s- main goal is to be succesful in their career and find independance.
BROWN: Girls do better in coursework as they are more organisised.
GORAD: 1988 when GCSEs were introduced the gender gap sharlpy increased.
