Data Logging

OMR: Optical Mark Recognition. Used for filling in forms, such as Maths Challenge.

OCR: Optical Character Recognition. Computer identifies printed or written characters.

Data Logging: the collection and recording of data over a time period, using sensors, from which the data is fed into a computer: stored, then used, processed or analysed.

Sensors and typical uses:

Thermistor: Temperature Sensing

Geiger-Muller Counter: Radioactivity

Movement Sensor: Burglar alarms

Sound Sensor: Decibel levels on air traffic

Pressure Sensor: Pads on road for traffic
