Forces

There are three types of forces; push, pull and twist. An example of a push force is closing a draw and an example of a pull force is opening a draw. Turning a knob on a tap would be twist. Magnets are actually push and pull forces.

There are two other main categories; contact and non-contact forces. An example of a non-contact force is weight. This is also a pull force. An example of a contact force is friction. This is a push, pull and twist force. They are usually shown seperately rather than at the same time.

Weight is a downwards force created by gravity and mass. Upthrust is an upwards force exerted on an object in a liquid. Drag is a resistive force due to moving through any fluid (including air). Air resistance is a resistive force due…
