Fibrous Proteins 

.Repetitive sequences of amino acids 

.They form long,thin,elongated fibres which are insoluble in water 

.This means that they can form structual units because they are usually have high tensile strength 

.Examples are keratin, collagen and elastin 

COLLAGEN

-They are made up of three polypeptide chains that are wound around each other forming a 'UNIQUE COLLAGEN TRIPLE HELIX' 

-Hydrogen bonds are formed within each helix between the NH and CO group 

.They then form covalent cross links between helices

.The wrapping round of collagen molecules form fibrills and then these fibrills form fibres 

.It doesn't contain any polar R groups or OH groups therefore they are insoluble in water
