Electrical Charges

the substance that the electrons move ONTO becomes NEGATIVELY CHARGED because they GAIN ELECTRONS

the substance that the electrons move AWAY FROM becomes POSITIVELY CHARGED because they LOSE ELECTRONS.

eg a polythene rod ransfers electrons from the cloth to the rod- so the rod becomes negatievly charged from GAINING electrons

    a perspex rod  transfers electrons from the rod to the cloth- so the cloth becomes positievly charged from LOSING electrons.

friction causes electrons to be transferred from one material to another.
