X-rays should only be used when neceassary and at the lowest does posible, to reduce the amount of energy released and therefore reduce the amount of tissue damge which occurs,

High levels of exposure can cause leukaemia and radiation sickness before death eventually occurs 

Use of dnetal images has to be clinically justified ( must be a reason why the patient has been exposed to x-ray)
