DNA-DNA Hybridization
Mitochondrial DNA is extracted from 2 different species of organism, P and Q.
Radioactive labeling is attached to the DNA of species P.
The labeled DNA from species P is mixed with unlabelled DNA from species Q.
The mixture of DNA from both species is heated.
Heating denatures the DNA of both species; the strands of DNA are separated as hydrogen bonds between bases break.
