Divorce

In England, you can get divorced legally if you can show the marriage has broken down, the other person has been unfaithful, the other person has disappeared and you don't know where they are or you have been living apart for 2 years.

What does the Catholic Church think of divorce?

In the eyes of Catholic Church, you are NEVER get divorced. Marriage is PERMANENT and your vows are binding. Even if you get a legal divorce, the Church doesn't recognise it and you can never remarry in a Catholic Church (you would have to have a civil service).

The Catholic Church believes that divorce is very damaging to the family and society…
