Does the media sensationalise mental illness in a negative way compared to the reality of mental illness?

• Top-down approach; we pre-defined our categories, 3 being positive and 3 being negative, all were related to aggressive behaviours.
• Physical violence, bad language, shouting, coherence, calmness and repetitive behaviours.

Procedure

• Researched media portrayal and selected clips from "Girl, Interrupted" and the case of "Gerald". We got info on their cases and their illnesses…
