Chemistry C7: Chromatography

Introduction:

Chromotagraphy is used to fnd out what unknon substances are made up of.

Substances seperate from eachother as they move up through the staionary phase (paper) at different speeds.

They dissolve in the mobil phase (the solvent)

How it works:

Paper chromatography has 5 main stages.

1) If the substance to be analysed is a solid, it has to be disolved in a suitable solvent.

2) Place a spot of the resulting solution onto a sheet of chromatography paper at the pencil line and allow it to dry.

3) Place
