Properties of Metals

You use different metals for different purposes due to each having its own specific combination of properties.

Metals are on the left and middle of the periodic table.

Most of the elements are metals so they cover most of the periodic table. In fact, only the elements on the far right are non metals. The transition metals are found in the centre block of the periodic table. Many of the metals in everyday life are transition metals, such as titanium, iron and nickel.
