History of Periodic Table Development                                                                         

Attempts to classify elements in a useful order: (inc. Newlands & Mendeleev) have helped the growth of the periodic table.. At first they thought the elements were an interest thing Newlands & then Mendeleev tried to classify the elements by aranging them in order of their weights. The list was arranged in a table so that the elements with similar elements in a column (group). The old table was sometimes incomplete or incorrect if it followed the weight theory. Mendeleev overcame problems by leaving gaps for elements
