The cell cycle is the process that all cells in multicellular organisms use to grow and divide. The majority of the cell cycle is interphase, with a small percentage being Mitosis. If the cell detects genetic errors when the 'D' 'N' 'A' is copied the cell may kill itself to prevent any mutations occurring.

Mitosis is needed for growth and interphase, before hand is when the cell will grow or replicate the 'D' 'N' 'A'.
