Phase 1 - Volcanes gave out gases

• The earth's atmosphere was originally molten.
• Any atmosphere pretty much boiled away.
• A thin crust eventually formed after a cool down but volcanoes were still erupting.
• Volcanoes gave out carbon dioxide, water vapour, and nitrogen.
• The early atmosphere was mainly carbon dioxide and vater vapour. Almost no oxygen.
• Oceans formed when the water vapour condensed from the air.
