Hormones: 

Hormones are chemical messages released by glands directly into the bloodstream. They trael around the body to their target organs. 

Hormones travel much slower (at the speed of blood) than a nervous impule, which is an electrical message relayed directly to the target organs. 

Diabetes: 

The hormone insulin is released by the pancreas to control blood sugar levels. Insulin travels in the blood.
