CIRCULATORY SYSTEM: carries OXYGEN and GLUCOSE to all body cells through the blood. This is so that energy can be released through AEROBIC RESPIRATION.

The HEART pumps blood around your body.

When it RELAXES your heart fills with blood.

Your heart CONTRACTS to push the blood into your ARTERIES

BLOOD PRESSURE is a measure of the force of blood per unit area as it flows through your arteries. It is measured in mm Hg (milligrams of mercury).

It is measured with 2 numbers e.g. 120/80 (normal blood pressure)

The 120 is SYSTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE; the pressure in your arteries when your heart CONTRACTS.

The 80 is DIASTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE; the pressure in your arteries when your heart RELAXES.

To REDUCE high blood pressure:

- do regular aerobic exercise to strengthen your heart

-have a balanced diet to keep a HEALTHY WEIGHT

Factors that LEAD TO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

- Excess weight (the heart has to pump
