Acids and Bases

- An acid is a species that is a proton donor.
- In water, acids give a solution with a pH of less than 7.0

The common acids that you will come across are:
sulfuric acid - H2SO4
hydrochloric acid - HCL
nitric acid - HNO3

- A H+ ion is responsible for all acid reactions
