ART: A GCSE and A-Level List of Things To Do!

?

This way of work is aiming to hit ALL the spec points without fail.

·      Title Page of Theme/ Question

·      Initial Mind-Map

o   What initially came to your mind when you first heard the topic you were given?

o   What materials can be used? (Note! You don’t have to use all of the materials you note down, just state what COULD be done with them)

o   What sub-topics are there?

o   Can you think outside of the box? (Eg: Structures -> societal structures and the family -> photography of emotions around said family. Doesn’t appear as the initial topic at first glance). Remember you can always turn the topic around to your benefit if you can think of a sub-topic that plays to your strengths

·      Ideas Exploring your mind-map

o   Drawings/ small-scale creations/ photography/ colour swatches

·      Collage after exploring initial ideas

o   This is OPTIONAL. The collage is what I consider a part of the initial mind map — I mean my initial ideas weren’t very focused, but now that I had more ideas I tried to fine-tune this with a collage.

·      #1 Mood Board (Pinterest) that reflects initial ideas

o   Also optional, but I really recommend. Takes barely any time, and it inspires you too!!

o   Copy and paste 10 images from google/ Pinterest

o   good to have a goal to move onto and shows you have reflected on your topic.

o   Also allows you to explore your ideas more if you are still uncertain

·      Create art based off Mood Board

o   If you make a mood board, you can start creating records!!

o   Take one photo from the mood board you have created and literally just edit a photo in the same style.

o   Brief analysis

·      Artist Analysis

o   Three artists

o   Link to your given topic and what you have explored thus far.

o   When analysing, choose a specific piece of theirs — you will also be copying the same piece. DON’T try and analyse ALL of their works as one!!

o   HEADINGS:

§  Why I like this piece

§  Why I chose this piece out of their other art

§  What aspects from the piece can I bring forward in my investigation

§  Composition

§  How does this link to my personal investigation

§  Background of the artist (KEEP THIS ONE BRIEF)

·      Artist Copies

o   One of each artist. Doesn’t have to be in the same media as the original artist

o   Analyse each of your artist copies with the following headings:

§  What I learned from this process

§  What was the process of making this copy?

§  Why I chose this piece to make a copy of

§  What went well

§  What will I do next time
