Christianity, The Bible, 1 Corinthians 7- St Paul, in his letter to the Corinthians, advised people that the Parousia (Second Coming of Christ) was imminent. Therefore advised against long term commitments, such as marriage, instead telling them to focus on scripture and faith in preparation for judgement: “Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do.”

Christianity, The Bible, Matthew 13- The Parable of the Sower. Be a seed that flourishes, don’t be distracted, and earn your way into the Kingdom of Heaven: “The seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred times what was sown.”
