Andreas Vesalius

Andreas Vesalius was a Belgian anatomist, born in Brussels in 1514 and died at the age of 50 in 1564. Some of his most important discoveries include the fact that the jaw is made up of one bone and that the breastbone is made up of three bones, not seven like it was thought before. He studied medicine in Paris and Italy. Later he became a professor in Padua. He teamed up with artists to produce detailed drawings
