Early theories suggest that aggression is linked to testosterone. The higher testosterone levels you have temporarily or permanently, causes aggression. It has been suggested that testosterone is linked to dominance rather than aggression, for instance successful business men and athletes have higher levels of testosterone than their counterparts, this is because of their want to dominate, it doesn't make them more aggressive.
