1.1 Prevalence of ADHD and studies

Studies in the difference of prevalence:

Prevalence data - the number of new and continuing cases.

Hansen et al (2018) - Prevalence data indicates that ADHD is the most common of neurodevelopmental conditions.

Spencer et al (2002) and Moffitt et al (2015) - Worldwide estimates show that around 6 in 100 children and adolescents have ADHD, but only 3 in 100 adults.

This shows that twice as many children and adolescents have ADHD in compariosn to adults with ADHD.

Moffitt et al (2015) - Adults with ADHD are not children and adolescents with the condiiton, who just grew up. 

ADHD in adults may not be the same as ADHD in children.

Estimates of prevalence across continents:

North America - 6-7% from 32 studies.

South America - 4-19% from 32 studies.

Europe - 4-6% from 32 studies.

Africa - 1-16% from 4 studies.

Asia - 3-5% from 15 studies.

Oceania - 1-8% from 6 studies.
