- Diffraction (where light spreads out from a small gap) can only be explained by Waves
- Whilst the Photoelectric Effect can only be explained by Particles
- This is Wave-Particle Duality
- Louis De Broglie concluded that if wave-like light showed particle properties, particles should be expected to show wave properties. Therefore; l = h/mv
- Diffraction patterns can be observed usign an electron diffraction tube. Electrons are accelerated in a vacuum and passed through graphite crystal, and they diffract just like a wave.
- Wave theory suggests that the lines increase if the wavelength increases. Having a small acceleration gives wider rings, and a faster acceleration squishes them together.
