Thermo-softening

Polymer chains are easy to separate 

Has weak intermolecular forces which hold the chains together

Examples:

Mouth guard, plastic bags and bottles

Thermosetting

Polymer chains are fixed together by strong bonds (cross linking), they are hard to separate

Strong covalent bonds hold the chains together

Examples:

Plastic kettle, Fire alarm
