The horse in the Sioux culture

  • In the 15th century the Spanish brought horses to America
  • The Sioux used the horses to go hunting with, it was their method of transport. The could hunt much more efficiently with horses
  • The horses make it much easier for the Sioux to hunt, they also get into the 'horse-trading' market. On hrseback it was easier to keep up with the buffalo, which meant more food. Horses transformed the way the Sioux functioned.
