Weber identify 2 types of power which are

coercion- power which is not recognised as legitimate and requires force

authority- power which is recognised as legitimate

he then said the authority is identified in 3 types

charisma- this type of authority is based on the charisma or personal qualities of the leader. some leaders exert power and get strong devotion because of the powerful personaltiy they may have.

traditional- some people have power because of the their tradition for example in the uk the royal family is considered as legitmate because of the history and British soverinity.

rational-legal- authority weather that of the prime minster or police officer or teacher the all exert power through formal vaules in the form of laws.
