Oily skin

  • most common in teenage years
  • overreactive sebaceous glands, which are controlled by hormone levels
  • skin produces too much oil
  • open pores
  • papules and pustules
  • comedones
  • seborrhoea, producing a greasy shine

Dry Skin

  • sebaceous glands are under active and dont produce sufficient sebum
  • skin lacks oil and moisture 
  • dry flaky skin
  • tight/ small pores
  • eyebrow dandruff
  • Milia - found around the eyes and cheek
  • texturised skin
  • broken capillaries
  • ages prematurely due to insufficient moisture

Combination skin

  • combination of two skin types
  • oily t zone - forehead, nose and chin; in theses areas you can find comedones, papules, pustules, open pores and a greasy shine. 
  • cheeks and neck will either be normal or dry
  • dehydration or dryness

Sensitive skin

  • touch sensitive - touch, heat and embarrassment. Needs to be treated gently 
  • Allergic/ product sensitive - must be treated with products that are designed for treating a sensitive skin. 
  • redness
  • irritation
  • rash 
  • warmth
  • erythema
  • broken capillaries

Dehydrated skin

  • skin tissues are lacking in water
  • lines appear 
  • broken capillaries
  • skin feels tight
