- Split into Sensory store+Short term memory+Long term memory
- Sensory store constantly recieves information but none of the information is saved unless one pays attention to it.
- If information is paid attention to, the information then enters STM
- Whilst information is in STM, it is at a very fragile state so therefore rehearsal is needed to maintain and move information into LTM
- Information in STM could also dissappear if other information enters STM (displacing or pushing it out)
- Maintence rehearal is rehearsal that helps information stay in LTM. largely verbal
