  • Split into Sensory store+Short term memory+Long term memory
  • Sensory store constantly recieves information but none of the information is saved unless one pays attention to it.
  • If information is paid attention to, the information then enters STM
  • Whilst information is in STM, it is at a very fragile state so therefore rehearsal is needed to maintain and move information into LTM
  • Information in STM could also dissappear if other information enters STM (displacing or pushing it out)
  • Maintence rehearal is rehearsal that helps information stay in LTM. largely verbal
