To stop river from flooding, man-made wind dikes were made:


(The dikes made the river deeper and narrower*)

Levees were built as force walls to stop the warter from flowing over the natural banks.

Despite all attempts of trying to stop the flooding, the levees and wind dikes failed to work.

the mississippi levee system comprimized over 3,500 miles.

Spur dikes - To stop the river from eroding more land.
