-the tip contains light sensitive element, which detects the light from the screen
-mostly use for drawing in computers

advantages:
-easy usage for drawing
-accuracy for lines in drawings

-could be uncomfortable to use
-it is not as accurate as digitising tablets

uses:
-has X axis, Y axis, and Z axis
-use for developing 3D environments

advantages:
-easier use for disabled people, more than a standard mouse
-tracker ball cannot be knocked off, no easy damage 

disadvantages:
-movements are not completely precise
-requires more cleaning than standard rolling mouse

-allows information of text and photos into the computer
-for text scanning: use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) program

advantages:
-very accurate
-produce high quality copied images

-it could take up a lot of memory space
-the quality of the scan depends on the original images
