Numeric keypads
Uses:
-when only digits have to be entered
eg. ATMs,mobile phones, PINs for credit/debit cards

- -small and easy to transport
- -easy to cover up when entering a PIN
Disadv.
- -difficult to enter text
- -too small for numbers to be
touch screen

-easier to select options than mouse
-less likelihood of slecting wrong option

uses:
-standard data input

-navigates the cursor for advanced usage, such as graphical designing

uses:
-rotary lever
-widely use for computer games
advantages:
-easy control
-great for option choosing with some customised buttons

-difficult use for disabled people
-difficult data input
Lightpen
uses:
-the tip contains light sensitive element, which detects the light from the screen
-mostly use for drawing in computers
advantages:
-easy usage for drawing
-accuracy for lines in drawings
disadvantages:
-could be uncomfortable to use
-it is not as accurate as digitising tablets
Tracker Ball
uses:
-has X axis, Y axis, and Z axis
-use for developing 3D environments
advantages:
-easier use for disabled people, more than a standard mouse
-tracker ball cannot be knocked off, no easy damage
disadvantages:
-movements are not completely precise
-requires more cleaning than standard rolling mouse
Image Scanner
uses:
-allows information of text and photos into the computer
-for text scanning: use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) program
advantages:
-very accurate
-produce high quality copied images
disadvantages:
-it could take up a lot of memory space
-the quality of the scan depends on the original images
Barcode/ Barcode reader
uses:
-quick method of recording information of that item
-barcode is printed lines hat contains informations
advantages:
-quick data input
-error-free information input
disadvantages:
-could be easily damaged
-expensive
magnetic ink character reader (MICR)
uses:
-the magnetic ***** cards contains personal information
-widely use as security and shopping
advantages:
-easy access to informations
-information could be update

-it doesn't work remotely, inconvenience of accessing
-data can be harm by magnetic feilds

uses:
-control other devices from afar
-has lots of options

-can be a long distance from device
-benefits the disabled with walking diffculties

-the signal from remote to operate devices could be blocked from objects

uses:
-in built-in laptops
-used similar to a mouse

-readings are taken continously so the microprocessor can take immediate action
