Non-Conformist Personality

DESCRIPTION:

Intentionally choosing to oppose against the majority.

EXAMPLE:

Difficult people.

CRITICISM:

(Negative) Behaviour is still deprendent upon the majority, because other's actions affect the person who choosed to be non-conformist. The non-conformist's actions are determined by the actions of the majority group - not independent behaviour.

Allies

DESCRIPTION:

havig another individual to support or back-up your oppinion/attitude.

EXAMPLE:

Parliament & Government parties.

CRITICISM:

(Positive) Allen & Levine (1971) REPLICATION OF ASCH'S STUDY found that the conformity of level was redeuced when allies were presen. In addition, the ally is more effective in reducing conformity if they are percevied to be valid.
