Cell Structure 1

Two Types of cells:

    - Prokaryotic

     - Eukaryotic

Prokaryotic: Found in Bacteria and Fungi

Eukaryotic: Found in animals, plants and fungi

- Prokaryotic Cells are much simpler structres compared to that of    Eukaryotic cells

Cell Structre Cont:2

Prokaryotic Cells:

contain ....

- Ribosomes 20nm diameter

- Plasmids

- cell wall made of peptidoglycans

- DNA (  circlular form )

- Cytoplasm

- Plasma (cell surface) Membrane

DO NOT CONTAIN!

- Golgi, nucleus, nuclear envelope, cytoskeleton, mitochondria, plastids or endoplasmic recticulum

Eukaryotic Cells

Contains...

- Nucleus - sorrounded by nuclear envelope - double membrane

- DNA - as several linear molecules - each forming a chromosome

- Ribosomes - 30 nm diameter

- Endoplasmic Recticulum

- Golgi Apparatus

- Cell wall

- Cytoskeleton - made of microtubules and microfilaments
