Hello and welcome to our presentation
on our company ‘Cment’ we would first
like to begin by defining what our
product is, what our company stands
for and what we have been up to the
last few months.
Cassie
Cment sells unique, handmade rustic
jewellery holders, candle holders and
coasters. All with a centralised theme of
being made solely by cement.
Eashani
Our company recognised the large carbon footprint and
therefore the environmental impact of our material.
So rather than buying it, we decided to source bags of damaged
cement from a building merchant, which was otherwise going
to be wasted. Because the material was free we realised that
we could make a large profit whilst helping the environment.
Tasha
So why did we use cement? Well our
marketing team discovered a popular trend
of minimalism and industrialisation within
home décor and interior design.
Cassie
After making the basic product solely of cement. The operations team
felt there was a lack of colour so with some research from the marketing
team we introduced copper spray paint on some of our products. We
chose copper as highly influential architectural magazines, such as
‘architectural digest’ had commented on the copper trend at the moment
and the use of it in modern kitchens and homes.
Sofia
We really liked the texture the cement produced, in which was different on every product we made. Which gave our company a unique selling point and an authentic feel.
Tasha
So our companies steps to success. As a new business
we evidently faced difficulties in different aspects of the
company. Originally, we struggled to finalise a product
idea, as we wanted to produce a wooden speaker
phones however this proved to be too difficult to
produce without specialised equipment and would
be extremely expensive to make.
Eashani
Coming up to our schools Christmas Fair we hadn't
finalised on a product we thereore decided to capitalise
on making as much money as possible by selling
baubles. We handmade them, personalised them, and
sold them invividually or in kits. The kits being £5 each
and baubles ranging from 3 -4pounds, with deals to
attempt to increased sales.
Sofia
We were going to expand on this idea but felt it was
limited for Christmas time only. We saw a video on how
to make a trinket dish made of cement hands. It proved
to be very difficult to make, however the successful
hands we made sold easily at the Hemel Hempstead
sales event.
Cassie
The Hemel sales event proved to be highly beneficial for
our sales team and finalising our product range. They
were able to pick up onpopular items and not so popular
items by looking at the sales of each product by keeping
a tally of what was sold and seeing which was the most
popular.
Tasha
For example, Candle holder were difficult to see and also
very expensive to produce. So we stopped making the
candle holders and used Watford sales event as a
chance to introduce new products like coasters and
ring holders and sell the surplus of the candle holders so
they weren’t wasted.
Sofia
Once we had decided on our final product range we
kicked started our social media accounts. As our target
audience is predominantly teens and adults we used the
social media sites that are popular for them, to advertise
on.
Eashani
Financially we have been very succesful. At the
Christmas fair, we generated £566.15 at the fair
in Hemel Hempstead we tested our products for the first
time, so when it came to the Watford Fair we introduced
a wider and more refined product range which proved to
be more succesful. Overall, we have a profit of £888.88.
Tasha
We hope that we can develop our company
even further in the future and have many plans
and ideas for future success, we have really
enjoyed our young enterprise experience so far.
Thank you for listening.

For example, Instagram is used mostly by teens and young adults
whereas face book is more popular amongst adults. We post about our
products and upcoming sales events, to gain exposure and to branch out
to the public not just from our school or nearby. Our Instagram is
growing at the moment and we recently got a direct messaging from a
customer in Henley inquiring about buying a ring holder after her sister
buying one at the Watford Fair
