Pyramid of Biomass and Food chains
A pyramid of biomass tells you the mass of the different organisms in a food chain (and it can give you a better picture of a food chain than a pyramid of numbers).
Energy is transferred in a food chain from one organism to the next.
Energy is lost in food chains.
The shorter the food chain is the more efficient food production will be.
Improving, recycling and the Carbon cycle.
We can artificially improve the efficiency of a food chain when we are producing food, but this can be controversial.
Materials are recycled by organisms.
A stable community recycles all of the nutrients.
You will need to know the carbon cycle.
