How does the energy change when throwing an object

After the object leaves your hand, it has a store of Kinetic Energy.

Once it reaches highest point, the Kinetic energy transfers to gravitational potential energy store.

As you catch the ball, it has a store of kinetic energy again.

How does energy transfer when an object is dropped

Just before the object hits the ground, the object has a store of kinetic energy.

After the object has hit the ground the energy is transferred to thermal (internal) energy which is stored in the object or in the surroundings.

How does energy transfer when a car accelerates.

A force on the car does work to accelarate the car.

There is a store of chemical energy in the cars petrol. As the petrol burns it transferrs energy into kinetic energy which moves the car and also into the thermal store of the surroundings.

How does energy transfer when heating a resistor?

When a current flows through a resistor, energy is transferred by electrical work.

Energy is transferred from the chemical store of the battery into the thermal store of the resistor and then into the thermal store of the surroundings.
