Beliefs on The Crucifixion

  • Although Jesus was fully God he was also fully human so suffered pain.
  • Jesus's last words before death were "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" (Luke 23:46)
  • Jesus's sacrifice on the cross gives hope to Christians that their sins will be forgiven if they sincerly repent.
  • Christians believe that God understand human suffering because Jesus who is God experienced it.
  • Christians accept that suffering is part of life as it was part of Jesus's life.

  • Shows the power of good over evil and life over death.
  • Means Christians sins will be forgiven if they follow God's laws.
  • Means Christians will be resurrected if they accept Jesus, so there is no need to fear death.
  • Shows Jesus is with God in heaven.
  • Paves the way for God to send the Holy Spirit to provide comfort and guidence.
