Coastal Change and Conflict

Sorry there's nothing on the holistic management card. I couldn't find a diagram online of the North Norfolk coast management, so I've left it blank, and will draw one myself when it's printed out.

Erosional Features and Landforms

1 of 9

Erosional Processes

Attrition: Waves smash rocks and pebbles into each other, and they break and become smoother

Abrasion: Bits of rock and sand in waves grind down cliffs

Hydraulic action: Air becomes trapped in cracks. When a wave hits the cliff, the air is compressed, which makes the crack deeper and larger, causing erosion

Solution: Acids in seawater dissolve some types of rock such as limestone and chalk
