Economic and Social issues

  • Economic
    • About 22% of China is over 60 and there is more to come  and so in an ageing population there will be a lot of stress on the healthcare systems. and there will need to be more carers and nurses as dependancy on the young increases
    • The population between 20-24 year olds will half between 2010-2020 this means the working force will be small
  • Social
    • it was prefered that the child was a boy so he can carry the fa,ily name. and so if there was a female birth then many girls were abandoned
    • in 2020 it is predicted that men will dominate wo,men by 30-60 million creatimg social tension and unmarried men.
    • women were forced to habe abortions
    • it is said that the population of children born in the one child policy will be socialy less developed as they were an only child.
