Unshielded Twister Pair
UTP is the same as telephone wire and is cheap, fairly reliable and can be quick. It is prone to interference though. It is the most popular type of cable for LANs. Gb
Fibre Optic
Fibre optic cable is the most recent technology and is the qucikest. A very thin, but expensive, cable is used and it can carry several thousand voice communication simultaneously (starting at 100Mbit/s and going up). It used glass to transmit data and is therefore less robust than UTP. Used for LANs and WANs. Tb
