Afrofuturism

--> it is a movement that brings in black history and culture

--> a genre that centers Black history and culture and incorporates science-fiction, technology, and futuristic elements into literature, music, and the visual arts.

--> the film takes place in Wakanda , believd to be a poor place, but Black Panther steps away from the stereotypes that people link to Africa being like and instead displays a society rich in Afrocentric perspectives

--> the purpose is to reclaim black identity through art, literature and political resistance

--> it gives an alternate narrative to understanding black experiences, eg. futuristic societies

--> it shows cultural apsects of tradition and the potential of a future where black people can restore their heritage.

Malcolm X

--> a vocal advocate for black empowerment and the promotion of Islam within the black community

--> joined the Nation of Islam when he was in prison in Massachusetts for burglary charges

--> in 1952 he was released where he moved to Chicago shortly after, becoming a minister and 'Malcolm X' 

--> he died on 21 February 1965 after being shot
