Biology Unit 2

Meiosis - Haploid cells (n) and diploid cells (2n)

?

Meiosis

Gametes are the sperm cells in males and egg cells in females (sex cells)

Fertilised egg cell = Zygote and divides and forms into a new organism

Normal body cells have a diploid number (2n) of chromosomes, 1 from mother and 1 from father.

Gametes contain a haploid number (n) only one copy of each chromosome.
