Arguments Against Genetic Engineering

Some people believe it is wrong to genetically engineer organisms, as they think only God should have the right to alter life.

Others believe it is wrong to do this simply because it's only for human benefit, and is therefore selfish.

Some people think it is wrong because occasionally it can harm animals involved in it.

People worry that in the future, genetic engineering may progress to deciding the characteristics of children - and of course that IS wrong.

Lastly, we don't know what the evolutionary consequences are, and we could be causing problems for future generations. The fact that we don't know but still do it is considered irresponsible by many in today's society.
