Alkenes

Isomerism and Reactions of Alkenes

?

Isomerism

Stereo Isomers = same structure - atoms bonded in same order but atoms arranged differently in space.

E/Z Isomerism (geometric isomers)

Molecule has to have a double bond because this cannot rotate and have different groups bonded to the carbons in the double bond.

First Carbon has the same atom so cannot have E/Z isomers
