ACT 1 IAGO QUOTES.

'I know my price, I am worth no worse a place'

This shows Iago's arrogance and jealousy as he did not get the position he wants even though he belives he was the rightful owner of it.

'A fellow almost damned by a fair wife'

Here Iago uses sexist language. He is saying Cassio is so weak that he can be beaten by a woman.

'I follow him to serve my turn upon him'

This alludes his duplicity and hints he is only loyal to Othello to get revenge

'Your heart is burst, you have lost half your soul'

deliberate language is used to make Brabantio question why he did not notice his daughte has gone and Iago makes him believe his life is over now she has married Othello.

ACT 1 IAGO QUOTES.

'I am not what I am'

This shows Iagos duplicity and deception. From a religious POV Iago wouldbe seen as going against christian conventions. Moses- 'I am that I am'

'Old black ram tapping your white ewe'

This is racist language. Black has connotations of evil and white has connotations of innosence which implies that Othello is harming Desdemona by putting evil upon her. Animalistic Imagery.

'Though I do hate him as I hate hell pains'

This is one of the only times Iago is honest about himself

'If I would expend with such a snipe'

The sibilance hows Iago is struggling to contain his harsh aggressive emotions. 

'must bring a monstrous birth to light;'

on about his plan- darkness- devil incarnate.

ACT 1 BRABANTIO QUOTES

'Thou art a villain'

This shows Brabantio see's Iago for who he truly is and is not fooled by his manipulations. 

'corrupted by spells and medicines'

Brabantio believes that dark magic and supernatural things must have occured for Desdemona to marry Othello.

'This is venice'

Brabantio is saing this as if nothing bad happens in venice because nothing bad is supposed to happen in such a lovely place.

'thou hast enchanted her'

This is Brabantio again mentioning dark magic and supernatural things because he cant come to terms wih his daughter marrying a black man without his knowledge or premission.

ACT 1 OTHELLO QUOTES

'But that I love the gentle Desdemona'

Here Othello speans softly about Desdemona which shows his love and care for her. 

'My parts, my title and my perfect soul shall manifest me rightly'

Othello firmly believes his good reputation will get him through such awful accusations.

'Keep up your bright swords for the dew will rust them'

Here Othello knows he and his men are good soldiers and is reminding Brabantio o that too, almost warning him not to start anything as he will lose. 

'Most potent, grave and reverend signiors'

Here Othello is showing respect even after foul accusations. Brabantio would have thought he would have put up a fight.

ACT 2 IAGO QUOTES

'Players in your housewifery and housewives in your beds'

Iago is very sexist here and believes women are universally untrustworthy which shows his misogynistic behaviour.

'With as little a web as this I will ensnare a great a fly as Cassio'

Iago is saying he is easily able to trap Cassio into his eveil plan.

'You are pictures out of doors, bells in your parlours, wildcats in your kitchen...'

Iago is usuing sexist language to make fun on women with his slanderous jokes.

'Constant, loving, noble nature'

Here Iago is basically admitting that he is going to exploitall of Othello's good qualities. 

'I'll pour the pestilence into his ear'

The image of posion shows Iago's villainy and how he has confidence in his power of verbal persuasion.

ACT 2 CASSIO QUOTES

'devine Desdemona'

Here Cassio shows how her faithfullness hightens the tragedy of her death. Desdemona's innocence is emphasised by her association with heaven/light which links to religion and how she is a sacrafice for Othello's own jealousy. 

'Make loves quick pants in Desdemona's arms'

Cassio's language is idealizing Othello's and Desdemona's relationship which shows his respect for them. 

'Reputation, reputation, reputation! O, I have lost my reputation/ lost the immortal part of myself'

Cassio has been savagely stripped of his reputation and h lost his identity and legacy which means he is now useless.
