  • White Paper- Set ideas for proposal of bill

Legislative Stages

  • First Reading- Title and main idea of bill read infront of house
  • Second Reading- First opportunity to debate and vote
  • Committee Stage- People affected give opinions 
  • Report Stage- Detailed examination by MPs and amendements made
  • Third Reading- Formality, last vote
  • Other house- Same Stages
  • Ping Pong- Amendements back and forth
  • Royal Assent- Monarch's approval.
