5 Kingdoms

?

Animalia (multicellular animals)

  • Eukarya domain - has a nucleus
  • Multicellular - have many cells
  • Heterotrophic - fed by other things
  • No cell walls = no chloroplasts
  • DO have nervous co-ordination = can feel and sense things (has a nervous system)
1 of 5

Plantae (green plants)

  • No co-ordination system
  • Have a vacuole in cell wall = contains sap
  • Have chloroplasts = contains chlorophyll = photosynthetic pigments
  • Have a nucleus = eukareotic domain
  • Multicellular
  • Does photosynthesis ( CO2 + H2O = Glucose + O2)
  • Needs cellulose to make cell walls
  • Angiosperms - includes all major crops = most dominant plant group on earth

Protocista

  • Nucleus bound by double membrane
  • Made up of a nucleus, nuclear membrane + chloroplasts
  • Collection of eukaryotic organells
  • Unicellular
  • Found in ponds (aquatic enviroments e.g. algae)
  • Evolved into plants and animals
  • Consumes complex organic food
3 of 5

Fungi (moulds,mushrooms)

  • Contains eukaryotic organisms
  • Contains nucleus + ribosomes
  • Unique structure with mycelium
  • Plant cell = rigid cell wall
  • Made out of chitin
  • No photosynthetic pigments = cannot photosynthesis
  • Repoduces using spores
  • No nervous co-ordination = no nervous system
4 of 5

Prokaryote (bacteria, blue-green algae)

  • Unicellular
  • Cell wall is made of peptidoglycan, not cellulose
  • No nucleus = DNA is lose
  • No internal cell membrane
  • No endoplasmic reticulum and vacuole
  • No golgi body
  • No mitochondria = no ATP
